Exhibition title/theme: “Once Upon a Time” - Evocations of Childhood 


Childhood is a sensitive and powerful time in our lives. Queen City 15 Gallery is seeking artwork that addresses this phase of human experience. Artwork may address the theme in many different ways: literal, narrative, expressive, iconographic. etc. This call is limited to 2-dimensional artwork. This exhibit will be paired with a holiday, artisan toy market.

Location: 317 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (Gallery may be moved to new location at 299 Main Street by this time)

Show Dates: November 5 through December 19

Awards:(1) $100 Juror’s Best in Show, (2) $50 Juror’s Honorable Mention Award, (1) $100 People's Choice (voted by visitors to the gallery)

Opening Reception: Saturday November 6, 4:00 to 6:00pm

Private Collectors Party: December 4

Open Call: Artists 18 years and older living in the United States are invited to submit up to six works of original fine art for juror consideration.

All  2-dimensional artwork will be considered.

Work must be for sale.

Work must be original artwork (no reproduction prints, example: a giclee of a watercolor) 

Work must be submitted by the artist.

Work must not have been previously exhibited at Queen City 15 Gallery.  

Work must be professionally presented: wired and ready to hang. Hangers such as velcro or sawtooth hangers may disqualify work from being included. The gallery reserves the right to reject works that are not ready to hang or differ from the digital representation submitted. 

Size: The maximum (framed) width is 38 inches, maximum height is 50 inches.

Work must be 2-dimensional wall art - We are not accepting 3-d work for this show.

Work may be hand delivered or shipped. All works must be clearly labeled with the artist name somewhere on the piece. Orientation of artwork should be indicated if not obvious.

Submission  Fee: A  $20.00 entry fee for the first 2 pieces and $5 per each additional piece for up to 6 entries total will be collected at time of submission by

Juror of Selection: Ursula Morgan is an arts advocate with broad art historical knowledge, a focus on Modern and Contemporary Art, and specialization in the art of the Hudson Valley. Morgan's extensive work in the museum field includes curatorial projects, program development, and fundraising activities for private art galleries, not-for-profit art institutions and, most recently, the university art museum (Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz and the Neuberger at SUNY Purchase.) She holds a MA in Museum Studies from Marist-Italy, a BA in Art History from Bard College, and is a graduate of Fiorella H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art in NYC majoring in fine art.


Presentation: All artwork will be hung in the gallery’s physical space, will be posted on an online web gallery, and will be displayed in a video presentation of the work on social media.


Promotion: A digital promotional postcard will be supplied by the gallery for all participants to use for promotional purposes. Queen City 15 Gallery will promote the exhibition via online and print media through press releases and online event scheduling. The show will also be promoted through the gallery’s social media and email accounts.


Notification: Friday, September  10, 2021 via email 


Delivery of Artwork by hand: Queen City 15 Gallery, Poughkeepsie, NY,  Friday October 15 & Saturday October 16, during normal open hours (check website for most up to date hours), or by appointment.


Delivery of Artwork by shipping: Shipped artwork must include prepaid return shipping, reusable packaging and arrive at the shipping address by October 20. Shipping address will be supplied upon notification of inclusion. ***Do not ship to the gallery address.***


Pick-Up of Artwork: Pick-up dates are January 7-8 & 14-15 during normal open hours (check website for most up to date hours). Unless prior arrangements have been made, artwork left 14 days after the pick-up date will be charged a $5.00 per day storage fee. Any item left longer than 90 days after the last pick-up date will be forfeited by the owner and considered property of Queen City 15 Gallery to dispose of as it sees best.


Return Shipment of Artwork: Unsold artwork will be shipped to the artist at the end of January 2022.


Liability: Queen City 15, LLC will not be responsible individually or collectively for damage or loss, regardless of the cause, to any artwork submitted under this agreement for exhibition and/or sale at Queen City 15 Gallery. Artist releases Queen City 15, LLC from all liability with respect to loss or damage to the artist’s works of art. It is suggested that artists carry their own insurance. Artists give permission for their work to be photographed for promotional purposes and do not hold the gallery responsible for any unauthorized photography.
