I have always been intrigued by shapes, colors, spaces and their relationship to one another. Collage allows me to play with all of these: dancing forms, ricocheting colors, balancing and unbalancing spaces. It works both as a playful diversion and as a puzzle to struggle with - a problem of sorts, to solve and solve again. Recently, I have explored oil paints, but even with oils I keep coming back to shapes, colors and the spaces they create. Never knowing where a painting will take me or when it will be finished. I am a beginner and will always be a beginner. To me, there is something special about the raw, unfinished, slightly jarring work that I do. I am a retired educator; live in the City of Poughkeepsie, travel far and wide and live to ski!
